You will be directed to a page where you must enter your contact information and your password. The latter must also contain at least 6 letters and numbers and think of incorporating upper and lower case for a safer password. Make a note of this password, you will need it in a few minutes.

Then click on “Create Account” to validate the form and validate your registration. An email will be sent to you a few moments later, which will confirm your registration.

Register a domain name here.

It is quite easy to register a domain name on Namecheap but this tutorial is primarily intended for people who register a domain name for the first time. If you are both at a time when you have fallen well by coming to this page.

Start registration

To start, go to Namecheap and identify yourself by clicking on the “login” button (next to the “signup” button above ) and fill in the requested information, ie your username and your password. Here you are now connected to your admin panel.

The first thing to do is to enter your details to integrate automatically when registering the domain name. To do this, click on “Manage profile” in the “My Account” tab on the right side of the site menu. On the new window that appears, click on “Manage address & profiles” and fill in all the information as in the image below. Once you have completed this form, click on “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page on the left.

Buying the domain name

First, go to the top of the homepage of the site and click on the small flag to change the US currency in Euros. Then, in the menu of the site, click on the first tab “Domains” and then click on “Register a domain” as indicated on the image opposite. It’s also from this tab where you can set up your domain names, transfer them, renew them, make your Whois private, etc. In short, I only use Namecheap to buy and manage domain names.

By clicking on “Register a domain”, you will go to a new page where you will be asked to enter the domain name you wish to obtain.

How can I Set Up A Private Email Account With NameCheap?

Register your domain name, choose the extension (.com, .org, .net or other) and click on “search” . At this point, Namecheap checks the availability of this domain name among the selected extension but also among other extensions.

This will allow you to choose other extensions if unfortunately the domain name you want is already assigned. If by chance, your domain name is still available, you are entitled to a nice round and green symbol indicating domain availability.

As said before: if your domain name is already taken by someone, you can always check the list of domain names available with other extensions until you find a domain name that suits you.

Once this name is found and available, click on the “add to cart” button to give the order to buy this domain name.

Note that options such as PositiveSSL and others, even if they can be useful for the security, the comfort and the referencing of the site, are in no way obligatory, I advise you not to stop there for this time. Once you have chosen your products and services, click on “Checkout” to proceed to the payment.

The next page is your contact information during registration, administrative contact, technical contact, and billing contact. This may seem like a lot but normally this information is already pre-filled. In most cases, all of this information is about the same person. So just do not touch anything, check if the information is accurate and if it is, click on the button “Save and continue” which is at the bottom of the page.

Choose the right options

You are now landing on the domain name options page. Here’s how to make your choice.
Here a box asks you if you want to allow Namecheap to automatically renew the purchase of your domain name.

Here you activate the WhoisGuard function. If this box is not checked, everyone will have access to your address, phone number etc … So I recommend checking the enable WhoisGuard checkbox.

The second part of this panel concerns the renewal of WhoisGuard, also, I advise everyone to activate the automatic renewal.

Choose the right servers (DNS).

The table above titled Nameserver Setting is the address configuration panel for your web server. They are usually better known as DNS servers. It is via this panel that we can link your domain name to your web host.

If you already have your web host, check the “Use Custom Name Servers” box and indicate the DNS address (es) your host must send to you by email.

If you do not have any hosting yet or if you can not find your DNS addresses, check the “Use Our Free Name Servers” box as in the picture above. We can change these settings later by clicking My Account> Manage Domains> DNS to Webhost Transfer (or Domain Name Server Setup).

These last 2 frames allow you to redirect your site to another web address.

Leave these parameters as such and if you want to redirect your emails to another mailbox, it’s time to note it in the last box. Then click on “Save and continue”.

Selection of the means of payment

You arrive at the summary and the choice of payment method as on this image.

Check your bill and if it’s ok, you can pay either directly with Namecheap if you have funds, credit card or Paypal.

If you chose to pay with your credit card, you arrive on this page, fill it out like this:

In the CVC / CVV box, you must enter the 3-digit security code on the back of your card.

Finally, if you use Paypal, follow the steps given in the online payment procedure. Once the payment is complete, you are redirected to Namecheap.com and you notice that something has changed: you have managed to register a domain name and you now have your own!
